Dining with stars. Fabra Observatory,
Barcelona
The Fabra Observatory, at 413 meters of altitude, presides since 1904 a privileged place in the Tibidabo mountain. The building offers a widespread view of Barcelona and is sufficiently close to the sky as to compile the corresponding meteorological, seismic and astronomic information.
During the summer months, the observatory offers "dinner with stars", an activity which comprises outdoor dinner combined with the telescopic observation of the night sky, a visit of the exhibition space and a scientific conference.
The wooden terrace with bench defines the exterior space of the event, delimiting the area of contemplation from the natural environment (wild boars included). As the night falls, the atmospheric lighting amplifies the sensation of a "floating viewing-terrace” above the urban sea.
